Concerned Black Clergy of Metropolitan Atlanta, Inc., (CBC) is the primary, proactive and principle-centered organization comprising mostly of African-American ministers and laity. Our mission is to provide leadership, advocacy and service to the homeless, helpless and hopeless in our community.
Committees include:
Economic Development – This committee educates the constituents of CBC in the area of economic development through partnerships and collaborative efforts with the business community. Additionally, this committee addresses the issues of financial independence, entrepreneurship, African-American trade, and minority business networking with specific strategies and identifiable resources, among others.
Juvenile Justice – This committee studies the prison system practices particularly as it relates to juvenile justice and makes recommendations regarding but not limited to prevention, injustices and transitional after-care.
Health – This committee organizes and coordinates health initiatives for clergy, congregations and other constituents on the major disparities impacting the African-American community. This committee also informs or communicates (in laymen’s terms) the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual prescription for better health; provides education on any outbreaks; develops partnerships with churches for training the training purposes; and suggests possible opportunities for cost-effective medical care.
Education – This committee researches and educates the clergy and constituents of matters directly impacting students. Members of this committee monitor the policies and practices of school boards and school systems that are not conducive to a proper learning environment for students. This committee also makes recommendations of necessary actions that will improve learning opportunities for students.
Public Policy / Government Relations – This committee oversees the acts of injustices committed in society. It includes providing knowledge and information of public policy issues and government legislation and regulation.
Membership – This committee solicits and recruits individual, organizational and corporate membership. This committee also maintains an accurate database of membership, and acknowledges and rewards the participation of members.
